Kentucky National Guard Custom Guitar

Honoring Their Sacrifice

Kentucky National Guard MemorialDavis Guitars is proud to present the beautiful Kentucky National Guard “Honoring Their Sacrifice” guitar featuring custom artwork, inlays, and a design resembling the memorial currently being constructed.

The picture seen to the right is of the Kentucky National Guard Memorial as it is currently being built in Frankfort, Kentucky.  It is this project that gave Dan Davis the inspiration to create the custom guitar.

Dan writes “I built this guitar to commemorate these brave soldiers. The guitar is constructed from European curly Maple back and sides, Sitka spruce top, Mahogany neck, ebony fret board, (all premium grade) it also includes inlays of Mother of Pearl and Abalone.”

It was an honor to have been asked to build this guitar to commemorate these brave soldiers. It is only a small token of my appreciation for these soldiers and all the soldiers who help protect this great nation, for without them and their sacrifice, United States Of America would not be the Greatest Country in the World.

THANKS To All of You,
Daniel Davis

The guitar is constructed from European curly Maple back and sides, Sitka spruce top, Mahogany neck, ebony fret board, (all premium grade) it also includes inlays of Mother of Pearl and Abalone.

This design represents the large granite Kentucky slab that will be the focal point of the memorial I and will display the names of the fallen. I have also included the names of the fallen.

This rosette inlay of Mother of Pearl, Abalone and Ebony, represents a birds-eye view of the over all memorial. On top of the rosette stands a Mother Of Pearl inlay of Daniel Boone that represents the Bronze sculpture by Wyatt L. Gragg that will be placed in front of the granite slab to watch over them.

Also inlayed is a set of Dog Tags with the words “United We Stand” “Divided We Fall” The National Guard Motto.

This inlay represents the words inscribed on the granite slab. “Solemn Pride…. To Have Laid So Costly A Sacrifice Upon The Altar Of Freedom”. This came from a letter written by Abraham Lincoln to a mother of fallen soldiers during the Civil War. The inlay on the fret board also includes a Abalone chain holding the Dog Tags.

The inlay on the head of the guitar represents the fallen soldier field cross of Mother of Pearl and Abalone and also a inlay of MOP stars to represent the folded USA flag of the fallen soldier.
